Google AMP is an initiative by Google and it stands for Accelerated Mobile Pages Project.
“The AMP Project is an open-source initiative aiming to make the web better for all. The project enables the creation of websites and ads that are consistently fast, beautiful and high-performing across devices and distribution platforms.” – Google.
As google mobile search is now higher than google desktop search, mobile search is considered more important and the mobile search index is also being used as the primary index by Google now.

If you are running WordPress as your CMS, implementing AMP is super easy.
Simply install the plugin called AMP for WP.
Just follow the instructions when you activate the plugin. While there are specific settings for an experienced user, you really don’t have to worry about that in the beginning.
When you implement AMP for your website, effectively a copy of your website is cached with Google, the content loading is much faster to make it a better experience and performance on a mobile platform.
You can append /amp to your url to view the look and feel of your website as presented by AMP.
