I often say a website no matter how beautifully designed is not worth anything if it does not have much traffic! And if you are are running an affiliate marketing website, the amount of traffic you get may directly impact the affiliate marketing commissions you are getting from sales conversions.
There are several ways to drive traffic, broadly divided into paid ads vs free organic traffic.
Paid ads can be through Google Adwords or Facebook marketing.
Free organic traffic can be from organic search engine traffic or links from your social media platforms.
Today, I want to specifically focus on free organic traffic using search engine optimization (SEO) techniques.
I have already earlier written about using low competition keywords and how it can be leveraged as a key SEO strategy. Please revisit that article before you continue reading the rest of this article.
As you are building up your affiliate marketing website, write your contents to optimize a list of long-tailed low competition keywords. What that means is that you need to do your keyword research carefully and thoroughly and if possible, identify a whole list of long-tailed keywords related to your niche.
In so doing, you are striving to get page 1 ranking for many of these keywords. While each keyword may have lower volume, an aggregation of all the traffic will still drive huge amounts of traffic to your website.
Let me use an example to illustrate. If I have a niche website centered around educational toys for smaller children, I might have a keyword list something like this. For this example, I have used keyword research tool Kwfinder to generate a list of long-tailed keywords with low SEO competition (score of 39 and below).
Some of these keywords, the search volume happens to be high while competition is not too intense, which is good.
For each of these keywords, I will then write relevant content to try to rank. If I manage to rank a number of them on page 1, I believe I can generate substantial traffic and I may be able to generate good income from affiliate commissions.
Such is the power of careful keyword research and knowing how to use SEO to drive free traffic to your website. Try out Kwfinder as one of the tools you should deploy for your affiliate marketing business.
The tool is easy to use and you can set filter to determine the criteria for the keywords you are searching for.
