We want to get our website to get page 1 ranking for as many keywords as possible, so that we get tonnes of organic traffic to our website. One of the ways is through ranking for low competition keywords. Today I would like to do a quick illustration of keyword research to find those low competition keywords, and for this purpose I am using keyword research tool Kwfinder.
So say I have a business idea to set up an online exchange portal to buy and sell used books. I would set up my web presence with a nice website and accompanying social media platforms like Facebook page and Instagram.
For website traffic, I intend to drive traffic primarily through Search Engine Optimization (SEO). But I know keyword like used books is very competitive. I use Kwfinder and set the results filter so that I specify search volume and the keyword competition (below 39). And I have result as below.
I would have hoped for higher volume but anyway for this illustration, I have managed to get a list of 4 long-tailed keywords. You can actually continue to search for related low competition keywords using the same method.
With the list, I will then proceed to build the necessary content for it. I will then share the content across my social media platforms, participate in certain forum discussions and perhaps even contribute guest posts in some other high-authority websites.
This should get my website to rank quite favourably and some on page 1 of Google. I will monitor the ranking status of the keywords through Google Webmaster and optimize the SEO accordingly.
For this used books exchange portal business idea, the product is used books and there will have to be some initial sourcing and inventory of used books so that the website already carries some stocks. Subsequently, the supply hopefully can come from people visiting the site and “contributing” the used books as well.
Used books may be too broad and therefore, you may need to specify what genre of books you are doing.
This business will also require you to take care of logistics, payment etc.
You can actually use the same approach for your affiliate marketing business.
I hope this article has been useful to you and go ahead and get a free trial of Kwfinder keyword research tool.
