We presented the Top 5 Keyword Research Tools in the last article, 3 being free while the other 2 are paid services though you can get limited access for free.
Today I would like to go a little more into kwfinder.com and discuss a little bit more.
So let’s say I have a website that is promoting learning of affiliate marketing, be it using my own course contents or promoting an affiliate product. My keyword may be Learn Affiliate Marketing.
I can create a free account with kwfinder.
I will then key in the keyword Learn Affiliate Marketing. You will then see as follows some suggested related keywords, the trend of the search volume for that particular keyword, the monthly search volume etc. The data that is lacking in other keyword research tool is the KD or the keyword SEO difficulty.
The color codes used are green, amber and red while a score of 0 to 100 is used, 0 being easiest and 100 being most difficult to rank.
In this particular example, the keyword I have thought of has a score of 33 or what they term as Still Easy To Rank.
I am using a free account, therefore you don’t see KD for the rest of the suggested keywords.
To me, if there is any compelling reason to pay for a keyword research tool, it is this particular piece of information. Of course, the suggested list of related keywords is useful too.
You also get to see a list of websites which are ranking on page 1 and a whole bunch of benchmarks on them.
Incidentally, the website ranked on 5th position is a website maintained by me though I use Google Adwords as the strategy rather than SEO for that particular website. It is telling me I should actively use SEO to get free organic traffic since it is quite easy! Just to sidetrack, you can see use of paid traffic actually helps you to rank as well.
This list of websites also tells you about your competitors. You can study their websites and try to decipher why and how they are ranking for a particular keyword and you can then optimize your website from your findings.
I have mentioned that keyword research is a very key step of SEO work and these tools can be of great help.
It is not cheap getting the paid service. For monthly plans, it ranges from $49 to $129 a month for different packages.
I would actually love to get the tool if I do a huge quantity of SEO work for clients and not using the free account currently which limits the searches per day.
Of course, other than the essential features of kwfinder I have presented here, there are other features like keeping your keyword lists, keyword autocomplete etc.
There are other keyword research tools out there and I will find an opportunity to use them and then do a comparison.
One thing I know for sure is that Kwfinder is very easy to use, try it out for yourself. The price while high, it may be worth it as keyword research is so important, especially if you can find high volume low competition keywords within your niche.
